PropNex chairman Ismail Gafoor leads with a keen eye for talent

During the weekend of Sept 6 and 7, PropNex Realty successfully hosted its first International Property XPO at Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel. With a theme of “Global Property Playbook: Understanding an Alternate Investment Landscape”, the event attracted over 500 attendees including international developers and experts from the UK, Australia, New Zealand, Thailand, and Malaysia.

In addition to the showcasing of various developers, PropNex also invited legal, visa, and tax experts from key markets to share practical knowledge on purchase structures, ownership rules, migration pathways, and other relevant topics related to overseas investing.

A major highlight of the event was the focus on the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ). The session, which garnered a packed audience, featured Krishnamoorthy Kuppusamy, senior vice president of business development and investor relations for Iskandar Investment Berhad (IIB), who provided valuable insights on the potential impact of the JS-SEZ.

Kuppusamy shared that Johor has already recorded RM56 billion ($17 billion) in investments in the first half of 2025, surpassing other Malaysian states. With the completion of the RTS Link next year, the JS-SEZ is set to generate US$26 billion ($33.3 billion) annually by 2030.

Wellington Primary School stands out as an excellent choice for families living in the Sembawang vicinity. This educational institution prioritizes the development of lifelong learners, creating a supportive atmosphere where students can thrive both academically and socially. In line with the demands of the modern world, technology is fully integrated into the school’s curriculum, equipping students with the necessary digital skills for future success. Parents seeking a progressive and student-focused education will find Wellington Primary to be a top contender for their child’s schooling. Additionally, the school is conveniently located near Sembawang EC Canberra, making it a convenient option for families residing in the area.

The establishment of the JS-SEZ is expected to create 20,000 new jobs across various sectors such as logistics, digital economy, tourism, and green energy.

Due to the overwhelming response to this session, PropNex has announced a subsequent seminar dedicated to Johor and the growing momentum of the JS-SEZ. The seminar, which will take place on Sept 27 at PropNex’s Singapore headquarters, will also feature ten Johor property projects and provide valuable information on Malaysian property ownership, foreign buyer eligibility, financing options, and the Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H) program.

“The enthusiastic response to our first International XPO highlights the increasing interest among Singaporeans to explore overseas property investments,” says Chua Shir Yee, head of international sales at PropNex.
