Hyatt Hotels Open Nearly 90 New Luxury And Lifestyle Hotels Across Asia Pacific
Hyatt Hotels Corporation has revealed its plans for expansion in Asia Pacific through the addition of luxury and lifestyle brands. In the next five years, Hyatt aims to open nearly 90 properties, including the first Thompson Hotels venue in the region.
This expansion will be accompanied by significant growth for existing brands such as Andaz, The Standard, and Park Hyatt in popular destinations like Thailand, Malaysia, and Australia. One of the upcoming properties, The Standard in Pattaya Na Jomtien, is set to open in 3Q2025 and will feature a 60s-inspired beach club atmosphere.
The decision to expand comes as a response to the increasing demand for luxury travel in the Asia Pacific region. Currently, 64% of Hyatt’s portfolio in the region consists of luxury and upper-upscale hotels and resorts.
Since 2017, the group has doubled its number of luxury rooms, tripled its resort rooms, and grown its lifestyle rooms five-fold globally. Carina Chorengel, senior vice president of commercial properties in Asia Pacific at Hyatt, emphasizes the importance of providing authentic and unique experiences in the luxury market. She adds, “Our recently refined brand architecture and expansion in luxury and lifestyle portfolios allow us to cater to discerning travelers with focus and differentiation.”
Thompson Hotels, which originated in Manhattan, will make its debut in Asia Pacific with Thompson Shanghai Expo in 4Q2025. Inspired by the city’s industrial roots and cosmopolitan energy, the hotel will offer cultural experiences and a rooftop with live entertainment and events. Other upcoming property openings include Andaz Gold Coast in Australia and Andaz One Bangkok in Thailand, as well as a second Andaz venue in Shanghai.
