Great Room Ceo Jaelle Ang Step Down
The Great Room opens new co-working space at Afro-Asia Building
Jaelle Ang, the founder and CEO of popular co-working space provider The Great Room, has announced that she will be stepping down from her role in August. In a post on LinkedIn, Ang expressed her excitement for the future as she takes on a new role as an advisor to the company, stating that she will continue to support The Great Room as it expands across APAC and partners with Industrious and CBRE.
Since its launch in 2016, The Great Room has become a leading co-working space provider in Singapore, with its first location at One George Street in the CBD. The company has since expanded to other prime locations in the city, including Centennial Tower, Ngee Ann City, Raffles Arcade, and Afro-Asia. It has also expanded globally to Hong Kong and Bangkok.
In May 2022, The Great Room was acquired by US-based flexible workspace provider Industrious. The acquisition reportedly involved a payment of US$100 million ($139 million), as Industrious also acquired European co-working player Welkin & Meraki. This partnership has fueled The Great Room’s continued growth, including the opening of its first heritage shophouse location in Singapore at the former Eu Yan Sang Building and its expansion to Australia with two locations in Sydney.
In 2023, The Great Room also took over the management of co-working space Csuites at Paya Lebar Quarter from LendLease. The company is set to open its eighth location in Singapore at the Shaw Tower on Beach Road in 2026.
Ang’s decision to step down as CEO comes about six months after CBRE took full control of Industrious. In January of this year, the global real estate services company announced its acquisition of the remaining 60% equity stake in Industrious for US$400 million, reflecting an implied enterprise valuation of approximately US$800 million. This move reinforces the strong partnership between The Great Room and Industrious as they continue to provide top-notch co-working spaces to their clients.

The Great Room’s success and growth over the years can be attributed to Ang’s leadership and vision. As she takes on a new role, the company looks forward to her continued support and guidance. The Great Room is poised to make even greater strides in the co-working industry, with its dedication to providing a luxurious and productive work environment for its members.
